Get Involved: Donate to Project Fresh Start

Sentry Insurance employees are coming together once again to collect school supplies for Project Fresh Start, a program of the United Way of Portage County Volunteer Center. This is the 17th year Sentry has participated in the program.

Project Fresh Start was created to provide school supplies to K-12 students in Portage County, Wis., who qualify for the free or reduced price meal program.

Last year, Sentry donated 43 boxes of school supplies which went to help more than 1,200 students. The Sentry Insurance Foundation donated a calculator for each participating child who was in need. This year, the need is greater. There are more than 2,900 students eligible to participate in the program in Portage County.

Volunteers are needed to assist with drop-off and drive sites, and to sort and distribute supplies the week of August 15. Those who wish to volunteer can call the United Way of Portage County Volunteer Center (715) 341-6740. Cash or check donations are also being accepted and can be mailed to: Project Fresh Start, 1100 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 301, Stevens Point, WI 54481.

Collection site listings and additional resources are available online at www.VolunteersRock.org.
