• Do not allow employees to operate cranes or hoist systems until they have been trained

• Perform frequent inspections

• Post the maximum loads for cranes and hoists

• Use only rated fixtures, connectors or attachments in lifting systems

• Certify maximum load ratings for makeshift lifting systems
