chopsticksDo you save rubber bands in your junk drawer?  Do you have a random chopstick lying around?  If the answer to both of those questions is yes, you have a magnificent kitchen tool in the making.  @1800 Culinary Team Member Kellen shares his secret technique.

What you will make is a reduction tester.  When a recipe calls for a 1/3 reduction, what you can do is tightly wrap the rubber band at the starting level of the liquid.  Dip the stick in periodically to check the progress and you should have your reductions working perfectly every time.
